Sector7G was born one August evening, 2020, over some wine and empanadas in Berlin, Germany. Lautaro, musician, had just returned from the DoomFarm festival, where he spontaneously volunteered to do the stage lighting. The experience awoke something in him and he communicated it to Juan. That evening Juan, engineer, introduced him to the works of Jim Crutchfield in video feedback, chaos theory and fractals- a longtime obsession of his. The wine and the food began do their magic and thus Sector7G was born. During the next months ideas multiplied and so did their gear. They got to know Joshua Light Show and Liquid Light Lab - their first sources of inspiration on liquid light - and the rest of the members The Psychedelic Light Show Preservation Society. From these early stages, and despite their rudimentary knowledge as beginners, Lautaro and Juan were amazed by the results. Many times they were on the verge of making grave mistakes but somehow everything turned out right. This prompted them to adopt the name "Sector7G", in reference to Simpson's episode "Homer Defined" (S03E05), where Homer - who works at the sector 7-G- becomes a hero by chance. The first chance to try the incipient group's skills came in late September 2020, through a collaboration with dancer Gazpar Balint, merging a light show with contemporary dance. Relentless promoting helped them secure participation on the album release party of "Heavy Heavy" and in "Fall in Berlin", a festival in ORWOHaus. Art: Sector7G aims to blend liquid light and video techniques in a single experience. Their guiding concepts are those of Chaos and Chance: the spontaneous emergence of order and structure from randomness. Lautaro and Juan - September 20th 2021 |
