Omega's Eye

Good Morning;

My name is Ken Patterson and I worked with Omega’s Eye from 1968 to 1969.

I was hired as cinematographer to create several trip films to be projected on the set of the film The Big Cube (1969).

I shot over a period of two months in Los Angeles and supervised on set projection at the Mexico City studio where The Big Cube was shot https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064088/

I also worked live shows at The Kaleidoscope night club in Hollywood and all of the Shrine Auditorium dance concerts Omega’s Eye did in 1969.

There were dozens of live shows at the Shrine and for most of its short existence we were the exclusive Light Show provider for The Kaleidoscope.

Greetings,

I thought about Omega's Eye tonight & googled them - found you.

I don't know much but I will share what I know and remember.

I went to high school with Bonnie Perkinson and was familiar with the Perkinson family when they lived up near the Greek Theater in LA.

I know Bonnie's older sister Vickie was affiliated with Omega's Eye, and may have been one of the owners with her boyfriend or husband but I am not sure about this. The name "Jim" comes to mind but I am not sure about that either. I am sorry but it was very long ago and I was in my teens so my memory is probably not all it could be.

I did go to shows at the Kaleidoscope and also another club farther west on Sunset I think was called Thee Experience. I believe I saw Omega's Eye there too.

Once or twice at the Kaleidoscope, Bonnie and I were asked to help out manipulating the large glass dishes with the colored liquids in them over the light "projectors" or whatever they were called to create the moving art swirls that were part of Omega's Eye.

It was very exciting for me to be a small part of Omega's Eye on those occasions. I remember just being in the light booth a couple of times too, watching.

Wonderful clubs in LA back then. i moved to San Francisco in the mid 70s. Bonnie and I remained in contact for a little while and I saw her on a couple of visits to LA but we eventually lost touch.
