Maresía

I started doing Light Shows for my own musical project, a guitar duo called "Emboscadas Tropicales", in 2019.

I filmed and edited everything to make rear projection during our videos and concerts, while we played. The pandemic arrived and I got very hooked on visual psychedelia, and I put music on the back burner to focus all my artistic activities on the liquid Lght Show.

I have a very clear dream since I started with this, and it is to make this type of art known in my environment and create a true hobby and demand for light shows in this area, region, country.

I live in the southeast of Spain and here hardly anyone has ever seen anything like it, it's costing me a lot of effort to make myself known and do shows, but little by little I'm achieving my goals.

My influences, sources of inspiration, mentors, without a doubt are:

Steve Pavlovsky (Liquid Light Lab)

Curtis Godino (Drippy Eye)

Lance Gordon (Mad Alchemy)

George Stadnik

Joshua White (Joshua Light Show)

My first works as a visual artist for bands and other artists began in 2020, I have made several video clips for the Australian Dj Tommy Trash, 1 video clip for the Mexican band Rostro Del Sol and another video for the local band Crudo Pimento, here are the links to my first works:

Regarding the concerts, I have not yet started to carry out events with live bands, I hope to start in 2023.

I have collaborated with Luis Enriquez in Gran Canaria (Dr. Uida Liquid Light Experiment), I have also participated in the Flip Out Festival in the desert of Almería, projecting in the desert.

The name of my show "Maresía", is a Spanish and Portuguese word that means smell of the sea in the air, you can smell the sea even though sometimes the sea is not in front of you, I always loved that word, and to me it's a wonderful metaphor for the visual arts.

At the moment it's just me doing the show, although I think someone will soon appear who wants to be part of this. I hope I can need it, it will be a good sign!

I started with digital, but right now I'm 100% analog. I am literally in love with my OHP's and my Optikinetics Solar 250's, at the moment I don't want to explore the digital path, I want to continue in analog.

I currently have about 10 OHP's and 4 Optikinetics Solar 250. Newly purchased slide projector.

I love making effects with the weirdest things I can find, starting with liquid research and continuing with the various ways of modifying light (distortion, diffraction, reflection, aberration, etc.) Shadow masks, prisms , diffraction gratings and ripple wheels are some of my favorite toys.

My favorite aspect of doing Light Shows is being able to do live events, both with bands and at festivals, cultural events, dj sessions, etc... I've been locked up learning for too long, it's time to get all my art and knowledge out there!

Cheers!
