The Internationale Essener Song Tage was held at The Great Hall, Auditorium of the College of Education, Construction Hall, Youth Center Hall, and the Grugahalle, in Essen, West Germany, September 25th to 29th, 1968 and featured:

Alexis Korner, Amon Düül, Bernd Witthüser, Blossom Toes, Bob Davenport & the Rakes, City Preachers, Colin Wilkie und Shirley Hart, Cuby and the Blizzards, David Peel, Degenhardt-Beat, Derroll Adams, Die Vier Conrads, Dieter Suverkrupl Djani Bihler, Dunja Rajter, Duo Pavarim, Edu Lobo, Erich Fried, Family, Fanz-Josef Bogner, Floh de Cologne, Franz Josef Degenhardt, Gunter Hempel's Time is Now with John McLaughlin, Guru Guru Groove, Hannes Wader, Hans Dieter Husch, Hein & Oss, Ingo Insterburg and Co., Juan & Jose, Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger & the Trinity, Julie Felix, Living Kick Formation, Meditation, Mother Murphys, Olympic, Paca de Lucia und de Algeciras, Peter Brotzmann Gruppe, Reverend Kirkpatrick, Rick Abao, Rolf Schwendter, Schnuckenack Reinhardt und seine Zigeuner, Soul Caravan, St. Gile's System, Tangerine Dream, The Fugs, The Mothers of Invention, Tim Buckley, Ulli & Frederik, Wolfgang Neusss and was possibly where Krautrock first came to the public eye.
