I believe my first introduction to Light shows was through watching recap videos from the Desert Daze music festival with Mad Alchemy’s liquid lights sometime around 2016/2017.
I was craving a new creative outlet and kept bringing it up to my best friend who basically pushed me to get off my ass and get started, by requesting liquid lights as part of an trapeze performance with Suspended Gravity Circus
I would say Lance and the Mad Alchemy crew ae my biggest influence. I heard they were coming to Nashville to do lights for Earthless and I pretty much lurked in the back of Mercy Lounge watching them do their thing.
I have worked with:
Sugar Candy Mountain, Oginalii, Ted Drozdowski’s Coyote Motel, Nightmode, Mulu, Black Moon Mother, Flaural Music, Lasso Spells, Basic Printer, Hanna Juanita, Fable Cry, The Inscape and Evan P. Donohue
Performance Groups and Festivals:
Suspended Gravity Circus, The Bob Fest, Spewfest
I have worked with
Silver Cord Cinema, Window Light Works, Psensibl and Yozovol
I had come up with the name Darling Lucifer years ago, initially joking it would make an excellent name for a metal band, and I knew I wanted to use it somehow for something, but I didn’t know just what yet.
When I got into Liquid lights and visuals in 2017 it was essentially meant to be; “Darling Lucifer Productions” - Lucifer literally means “the light bringer” - so it couldn’t be more perfect!
Darling Lucifer consists of myself - Bonnie Aldcroft-Curran @benni_croft & @darlingluciferproductions and my husband, Daniel Curran
In the beginning I used OHPs, which I still very much like to use although over time I’ve acquired some higher lumen models. I now also have a digital set up which really comes in handy for gigs.
I’ve used Elmo presenters, and Roland V4s, and recently upgraded to light tables with cameras run to a Roland V4ex run to an Epson projector.
We also dabble in modular video synthesis (Lzx, erogenous tones, tachyons+) and vj software like resolume
Optikinetics projectors
Experimentation with
Holographic cellophane and tape, candy dye, rotating tables with strategic lighting, video feedback, retro glassware ...and essentially anything that lets light pass through it.
I now have 5 OHPS, 2 digital presenters (Elmos), Two Epson/Digital projectors, and 3 Vintage Optikinetics Solar 250s
