Love at The Olympic Auditorium, Dec. 31, 1969

The End Of The Sixties...

Do you have any memories of this event?

We would love to hear from you !

One of my most memorable moments was New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 1969 at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. So I thought I'd do a search on the web (Google) on Taj Mahal and Olympic.

What a flash to see the concert listed on your site. You have listed Taj Mahal, Lee Michaels, Love and the Youngbloods.

I don't remember the Youngbloods being there although I do remember a group from SF called Wolfgang.

I was the highest I probably ever have been on Orange Sunshine. At midnight, Love was playing and playing hard as the '60s ended at that moment and we had optimism for the new decade, the balloons came down and everybody was grinning ear-to-ear.

Late in the evening I did start to bum out (extreme claustophobia), then went outside about 2am and they wouldn't let me back in cause I lost my ticket. Some guy tried to mug me so I ran about 3 blocks.

Eventually, I came back to the Olympic (dodging hallucinations on the street) found my buddy and we went home and I listened to Neil Young and Crazy Horse all the rest of the night by myself until the sun came up.
