Hey Poot!

Silver Cord Cinema is a fully analog liquid light show from Nashville, TN. The husband and wife duo have performed with national and international acts such as Billy String, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Post Animal, Mild High Club Frankie and the With Fingers, Kikagaku Moyo, and Sugar Candy Mountain.

Trent and Anna’s unique mix allows for synchronization with live performances and enhance the experience of the audience. Their capabilities transverse genres – from psych, to folk, funk, doom metal, bluegrass, and even spoken word. SCC stand alone in the way their liquid flows with music.

Silver Cord Cinema is a sponsor of Bobfest Music Festival held annually in Adams, Tennessee.

Along with Cold Lunch Recordings, they bring together light shows, artists, and bands from around the country.

At Austin Psychfest 2014, we saw The Zombies perform with Liquid Light Lab. As a painter, I was immediately inspired by the hand made aspect of the vintage projection medium and Nashville's music scene and upcoming psych scene was the perfect opportunity to dive in.

Wizzard Light Show is our light show godfather. Richard has shared invaluable information with me.

We have worked closely with Window Light Works, Darling Lucifer Productions, Lysergic Lights, and Strange Handle. We have shared plates with Astral Violet and Etherwave.

At Bobfest Music Festival, we have hosted Acid Light Show, Yovozol, and Psensibil.

The Silver Cord is an ancient concept found in many cultures. It is the life thread, or the life-giving linkage from the higher self to the physical body.

I like to think of it as the tunnel through which one would follow the light. I hope the light I follow down the tunnel looks like our show. ("Before the silver cord snaps, and the golden fountain is shattered, and the pitcher breaks at the fountain, and the wheel falls shattered into the pit. And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God, Who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12: 6-7)

We met Richard Young (Wizzard Light Show) at an ACID TEST in LA the day before Desert Daze 2016.
It was in the loft of an art gallery. You had to enter through a bookshelf. The Blindspot Project was doing lights that night along with Wizzard Light Show.

Richard had purple hair and I was blown away by his strobing color wheel. We smoked joints in the green room with him between sets and he told us of his pirate radio station he created as a teen and how the government hired him for his strobe technology to work on helicopter blade leveling.

Our minds were blown. That was the beginning of a sweet friendship!

We started our with a single Bell & Howell teal classroom projector and a glass set from Liquid Light Lab. That was the only resource we had until we met Richard. He really doted on us and blessed us with some great materials.

We now use 5 Dukane overheads and 3 Optikinetics Solar's so have 12 projectors in total.

I like creating my own slides, but the bulbs are not bright enough for live shows.

You can make a lot out of a little. Sometimes I will pull out cellophane on a convex plate. You can make it look like wood grain. As for getting fancier – that’s when I like to collaborate with analog feedback artists, like Window Light Works or Darlings Lucifer.
