Hydrosonic (Chicago)

Around January of 2021 I was dropping something off to my buddy Mike Yerkman and he was watching a liquid Light Show on YouTube while listening to an album.

I had just seen a Light Show in person for the first time a couple years before and I told him I’d love him to do a Light Show for my band.

We eventually did a lot of research and we saw how versatile you could get with multiple projectors so I asked him if he would be down to team up and do lights for other bands/events and such.

We got to work in March of 2021 and had our first light show around May or June of 2021.

Influences wise we would list Liquid Light Lab, Androide, Joshua Light Show and Heavy Water.

The name is because the word Hydroponics came into my head and we were strictly working with liquids and doing things for live bands so I came up with Hydrosonic Light Show

We are located in Chicago,IL (USA) but have traveled to Michigan, Indiana, and Iowa to perform and have worked with Howling Giant, Huntsmen, Coyote Man, BoneHawk, High Priest, Canyyn and many many more.

Our most most memorable gig?

Probably doing my first Light Show by myself and being pretty damn worried.

The power in this building was not good and I could barely run 2 OHP’s and one kept overheating on me so I was dancing back and forth with them. No one noticed and it still looked good!

My original Light Show partner Mike Yerkman moved away about a year ago and I was working solo until taking on an apprentice named Tim Nystrom who has been a huge help.

'The Gold E Manufacturing Co was a company that existed between 1920-1958 that manufactured projectors, both film and slide, and theatre equipment (lighting and such).

At some point in their history they were located at 1220-C West Madison St in Chicago'
